New COD: Black Ops Trailer Details Customization and Currency System

A new trailer for Call of Duty: Black Ops, the latest game in the hit Call of Duty franchise, details how players will be able to customize their game experience. Previous COD games relied on a level system that unlocked weapons, attachments and customization options, such as camouflage suits. In Black Ops this system is being replaced with currency. Match bonuses earn you currency, which is used to unlock options such as kill streaks and perks. A player can further select specific kill streaks and perks to further customize their game, independent of their current level. The goal is to provide the player with the tools to create a unique online identity.

This level of personalization includes logos that can be attached to your weapons. The trailer shows off a wide range of variation, from a simple monochrome skull emblem to a multicolor, customized logo sporting a stallion with guns for feet. Various examples of the face camo that can be created is also demonstrated, from standard military camo to face paint inspired by the Dark Knight’s Joker.

Players will get a chance to create their own unique looks when Call of Duty: Black Ops releases November 9th for the PS3.
