Killzone 3 Collector’s Edition and Pre-order Bonuses Announced

Sons and daughters of Helghan clear some space on your game shelf because the Killzone 3 Helghast Edition is coming. Announced on the Playstation Blog, this collector’s edition of Killzone 3 includes Killzone 3 with bonus content, a “super voucher,” an exclusive Cloaking Helghast Marksman action figure created by DC Unlimited, and an art book, all housed inside a collectible replica of the Helghast Helmet.

Here are the details on the various features of this expensive ($129.99), but extensive package. The Cloaking Helghast Marksman action figure is 6.5” tall, has multiple points of articulation and is exclusive to the Helghast Edition. You won’t find this bad boy in stores, ever. Additional bonus video content will be on the game disc and includes a behind-the-scenes look at the game’s creation. While such featurettes are standard in collector’s edition, for those obsessed with this series it should provide a nice window into Guerilla Games’ development process. The artbook will include imagery from the Killzone Universe. Finally, the “super voucher,” which, based on the list of bonuses it includes, is aptly named. This voucher gets you the Killzone 3 soundtrack, PS3 Dynamic Theme, Retro Map pack with two of the most popular Killzone 2 multiplayer maps, double XP for the first 24 hours of multiplayer gameplay, and full access to all weapons and abilities during the first 24 hours of multiplayer gameplay. Given the advantages of the Helghast Edition those fans that pick up the standard version are in for an uphill climb for the first few days.

However, those that pick up the standard edition aren’t totally left out as various retailers are offering their own pre-order bonuses. All these bonuses come in the form of PSN codes that must be redeemed and most of the bonuses are various combinations of features from the Helghast Edition of the game. The Guerilla Pack, available from Gamestop, gets you the Retro Map pack and all weapons and abilities unlocked for the first 24 hours of multiplayer gameplay. Pre-order from Best Buy to receive the Fast Starter Pack, which includes the Retro Map pack and double XP for the first 24 hours of multiplayer gameplay. If you don’t feel the need to enter a brick and mortar store you can pre-order from Amazon.com, which nabs you the Unlock and Load pack. This pack give you 3 Unlock Points that can be used to unlock weapons or abilities, giving you an edge in multiplayer and the Retro Map pack. Pre-ordering from other participating, but unspecified, retailers gets you the Retro Map pack and the PS3 Dynamic Theme.

So come February 22, 2011 get ready to lock and load as both the standard and Helghast Edition hit stores. May the Helghan (or ISA) fall at your feet.

is that code for double xp for 24 hours from your first multi-player game to to same time the next day or your first 24 hours of actual gameplay? could you clarify please?

When writing up the news post I stuck closely to how the press release phrased the bonuses. I interpret it as the first 24 total hours you are in multiplayer. If we get further clarification I will let you know.

damn,if its 24 hrs of gameplay then people who buy the standard edition will be left in the dust, that seems awfully unfair.
