Dead Space 2 Multiplayer Video: The Necromorph Threat

Without a doubt one of the biggest additions to EA’s upcoming Dead Space 2 is the inclusion of multiplayer. In the latest video for the game Ian Milham, Dead Space 2’s art director, walks you through some of the multiplayer basics. If you feel loyal to your species you can join up with the Sprawl security team, basically your average space cops, who must stick together in order to survive.

On the other end of the spectrum are the necromorphs, which come in four distinct varieties. The lurker is a little demon baby that throws bone shards, while the spitter specializes in long-range melee combat. The puker is the most disgusting of the necromorph bunch, and the pack, which are necromorph children, take the prize for creepiest.

Milham readily admits to preferring the necromorphs, since they allow you to mess with your opponents’ minds and give you an opportunity to be truly scary. Make no mistake this is not sniper-centric multiplayer. Your opponents will need to be up close and personal in order to deliver a killing blow.

Pick your side and make your opponents suffer when Dead Space 2 releases January 25, 2011.
