Swarm Controls Explained: Thanks Dr. Mike!

What do you do with 50 blue, fearless morons? Anything you want in Swarm, the upcoming title from Hothead Games, makers of Penny Arcade Adventures: On the Rain-Slick Precipice of Darkness, DeathSpank, and DeathSpank: Thongs of Virtue. In Swarm you manipulate a crowd of 50 Swarmites, the aforementioned blue morons, via mass character control. This means you move and control the entire herd of Swarmites at once, not individuals. In what looks to be an ongoing video series leading up to Swarm’s release, Hothead Games has two of their game designers walk you through some of the basic Swarmite controls. The simple bunching, spreading out, and jumping commands interact together to give you some unique movement options for traversing the level and solving simple puzzles. You’ve gotta love a giant totem of little blue guys running around the landscape. Swarm looks to continue Hothead’s tradition of whimsically fun titles. Explore your God complex when Swarm gets unleashed later this year.
