The Brink of Brink’s Release Date Moves Up

If you’ve been into gaming for years, then you understand that when news breaks about a game’s release date changing, your initial thoughts are, “great, how long am I going to have to wait now?”

Well, if you have been anticipating Bethesda and Splash Damage’s aquatic first-person shooter, Brink, then today is opposite day, because Bethesda has dropped the news that Brink’s release date has moved up by one week.  Brink will now be available in North America on May 10th, and Europe on May 13th.

This is what Bethesda had to say about the good news: “Production wrapped on Brink earlier than we planned and we didn’t see any reason to keep gamers from getting their hands on this highly anticipated game as soon as it was ready,” said Pete Hines, VP of PR and Marketing for Bethesda Softworks. “It’s apparent from the tremendous reaction so far that people are eager to jump online and play, and if we can make that happen earlier – we’re going to.”

Brink puts the player on a man-made island that was created after our world fell victim to ice-caps melting and exhaustion of our resources.   Blending a strong single-player experience with co-op and a robust multiplayer game, Brink’s highly-acclaimed gameplay and graphics won it ‘Game of Show’ at Eurogamer Expo 2010.

Still not sure what I think of this game but hearing that it’ll release sooner rather than later is always a good thing – especially when we live in a world of delayed titles.
