Orcs Must Die!: Steam Trap Trailer

Generally I’m not one to promote genocide, but in the case of orcs I tend to make an exception. Apparently Robot Entertainment, developers and publishers of the upcoming Orcs Must Die!, are with me. Above is the latest trailer showing off one of the myriad of twisted devices that you will use to defend your fortresses from the unwashed, green horde. Eschewing the typical top down setup of most tower defense games this title instead places the player in a third person perspective within the environments. Not only setting traps, but using them in conjunction with the fortresses natural defenses, will be key to staying safe. The trailer nicely illustrates this by using the Steam Trap to levitate some orcs, then setting off horizontal pillars to send those airborne orcs flying into a lava pit. The various trailers for the game are reminiscent of the action puzzler Deception series (Tecmo’s Deception: Invitation to Darkness, Kagero: Deception II, Deception III: Dark Delusion on the original Playstation and Trapt on PS2). Essentially if you are a fan of Rube Goldberg puzzles and have a bit of a sadistic side (or a general contempt for orcs) you should keep an eye out for Orcs Must Die! on PSN this summer.
