Disgaea 4 and Atelier Totori: The Adventure of Arland Screenshots

First off let me wish everyone a happy Catherine day! Much has been made about my interest, some would say obsession, with Catherine, but it is born out of a love of all things crazy and quirky. In the videogame industry this generally means things from Japan. One of the pillars of unique Japanese games is NIS America, for they are the ones who unleashed those lovably demonic, not to mention explosive, Prinnies on the popular consciousness. While this generation has been plagued with a drought of JRPGs NISA has not forgotten its fans as they prepare to release new installments in two of their best loved franchises this fall.

Disgaea 4: A Promise Unforgotten takes us back to the Netherworld to follow Valvatorez, former vampire tyrant and currently the warden and Prinny Caretaker of the realm’s jail. Fed up with the corruption he perceives in the Netherworld government he embarks on a quest to topple the old guard and install himself as Overlord – somewhere Laharl is smiling. Following in the series tried and true mechanics of deeply immersive strategy roleplaying Disgaea 4 will offer players dozens, if not hundreds, of hours to craft the finest party of warriors and warlocks that the Netherworld has ever seen. Most importantly for fans, Disgaea 4 looks to provide the beautiful HD visuals that were missing from Disgaea 3, a universal criticism of the title. So enjoy some screens and start figuring out your min/max character builds because Disgaea 4 is set to release on September 6th.

Atelier Totori: The Adventure of Arland, the twelfth installment in the Atelier series and the second in the Arland saga, takes place five years after Atelier Rorona: Alchemist of Arland. If you are familiar with the Atelier series then you will find another traditional JRPG adventure with a robust alchemy system at its heart. Indeed, the staple of Atelier titles is alchemy. The combining of materials rewards you with items, armor, and weapons, both rare and mundane. You are cast as Totooria Helmod, or Totori for short, student of Rorona, who sets out on a quest to find her long lost mother. Bask in the lush visuals of Atelier Totori and get your alchemy pots ready as it arrives on shelves Septemer 27th.
