Gearbox Developing Borderlands 2

2K Games and Gearbox Software announced today that Borderlands 2 is in development. If you didn’t hop on the Borderlands train when it released in 2009 here is the elevator pitch “Combine an FPS sporting multiple classes with a loot collect-a-thon and make it cooperative.” Even more amazing was the support shown to Borderlands, with four substantial DLC packs made available in the year following its release. Borderlands 2 promises brand new everything, from characters to skills to weapons all wrapped around a story boasting revelations about the planet Pandora. While we may have to wait a while to get our mitts on the game – it releases sometime during Take-Two’s 2013 fiscal year (aka after April 1, 2012) – fans can grab a look at the game at Gamescom (August 17-21) or Pax Prime (August 26-28). I don’t know about all of you but my trigger finger is starting to itch.

P.S. – If anyone picked up Borderlands and/or its DLC packs when they were on sale on PSN and wants to get some co-op time in just add me (PSN: frustin) and we will show those mutants who’s boss.

good to see its playable at events in only a few weeks time 🙂 hopefully they may be able to get it into gamefest too…

  • I really enjoyed Borderlands so will be picking this up. Hated the end of the first one though.

Yeah, the story, and especially ending, of Borderlands was trash, but it probably has the best pacing of any game I’ve played this generation. There were many late nights I suffered from that “one more quest” compulsion. Honestly I’m not playing Borderlands for the story, give me cool crap to shoot at and progressively better guns, with a little bit of witty ClapTrap banter and that’s all I need.

  • Oh man Justin – just had to leave a comment on the best use of Romeo and Juliet I think I’ve ever seen on a video game site. Well done good man.
