And the region getting Vita this year is…

Kaz Hirai last night confirmed the PS Vita will be in the hands of Japanese gamers this holiday season, according to the Associated Press.

Sony had always maintained it would be in one territory by the end of 2011, but for some time it looked as though that would not be Japan, after the disasters earlier this year.

However, the PlayStation exec last night told reporters that it wouldn’t reach western gamers until early 2012.

Hirai also added that the Vita will not be dropping in price, in response to Nintendo’s decision to cut a third off the 3DS:

“We packed so much into the device and made it very affordable. There is no need to lower the price just because somebody else that happens to be in the video game business decided that they were going to lower their price.”

I think they are missing a big opportunity not hitting the holiday season in North America.  That and I have a long drive to visit my family around Christmas, and I was hoping for this for when I wasn’t driving.

Well, its a little more time to save up cash anyway. With the titles coming out for this thing I think we’ll need it. I’m broke enough around Christmas time anyway.

yeah i was pretty disappointed at first, but then thought it may be a good thing for my wallet. sept-nov is always busy but now it seems like every year there’s more and more games i want.

fifa, arkham city, battlefield, forza, nba, uncharted, saints row, mgs rising, mgs hd collection, halo anniversary, ico collection, ssx… so many games, so little time – and cash…

Ultimately, a few months later is not a big deal.  I would like to see Sony re-adjust their prices in countries that aren’t the USA though.  If my dollar is worth the same as yours then why should I pay $349 for this?
    (because of the sickness probably)
