Rune Factory: Tides of Destiny Coming Our Way In September

Fans of the Harvest Moon series are no doubt familiar with Natsume’s feel-good family friendly vibrant RPGs.  Rune Factory’s release marks the first for the series on the PlayStation 3.  Not only do we have some new screenshots of the game, but we also are happy to confirm a release date for the colorful role-playing game.

Rune Factory: Tides of Destiny will hit the PlayStation 3 on September 27th.

Join Aden and Sonja, two childhood friends, as they venture to solve the mystery of their missing island. When Fenith Island (their home) disappears, and is replaced by an island full of strangers, the duo embark on a journey to solve the mystery of the curse.   Only by exploring this strange new land will they be able to accomplish this…but not without help.  Aden and Sonja will be able to take command of a towering golem, Ymir, and he will help them traverse oceans and lands to find mysterious dungeons, packed with dangerous creatures, but also treasure and riches.

It’s nice to see a colorful light-hearted RPG, as the focus of late has been dark-themed role-playing games with murder and mayhem. Of course, there is absolutely nothing wrong with that, but games like Rune Factory do serve as a reminder of simpler days.

  • This looks interesting but I’m wondering if this game is a part of a series that hasn’t been on playstation will playstation only players like me have missed out on details in the series related to this new game

    • He said that you don’t need to know anything from the previous games, but that there are a few Easter Eggs for those that know the rest of the game. In other words, if you haven’t played one before, you should be fine.

      • Thanks for replying Glen I just have one more question: is the combat turn based?

        • Don’t know for certain, but judging from that first image, it looks like it’s action-rpg combat.  The little menu on the top right looks like it has mapped attack and ability buttons mapped.  So perhaps like Kingdom Hearts or something.

  • Looks cool. I’d try it.

  • I think the battery died.  Seems odd I’d stop recording right in the middle like that…
