NIS America Unveils Slate of Upcoming Titles

NIS America, mostly famously known as the developer and publisher of the Disgaea series, recently announced three upcoming titles set to be released in 2012. Hyerdimension Neptunia mk2 and Clan of Champions (working title) are headed to the PS3 in 2012, while Disgaea 3: Absence of Detention will hit PS Vita.

Hyperdimension Neptunia mk2, a sequel to February’s Hyperdimension Neptunia, will be released next spring. Neptunia mk2’s story will once again follow an epic battle across the world of Gamindustri with the player assuming the role of a “console goddess.” If all this sounds a bit odd it’s because the original Neptunia had a story that was a parable of the current generation console war, with the Nintendo Wii, Xbox 360, and PS3 all less than subtly referenced in the game. Neptunia mk2 will follow Nepgear, younger sister of Neptune, who you played in the original Neptunia, as she attempts to take down Arfoire and make Gamindustri prosperous once again. New features include a free-roaming battle system allowing for additional strategy in combat, a streamlined combo system, a new item synthesis system, and a guild system that allows you to tackle multiple missions. If insanely meta JRPGs are what you are after definitely give Hyperdimension Neptunia mk2 a look.

Clan of Champions (working title) is a new multiplayer action game and is being developed by Acquire Corp., best known for their Tenchu series. CoC allows you to take on the role of a human, elf, or orc in an epic quest, which you can play either solo or team up with players online to form a three-person party. If you think your squad is badass enough you can also pit them against other squads in a 3 vs. 3 team battle mode. A large amount of DLC is expected for the title with additional quest, items, and weapons being made available to expand the experience.

Disgaea 3: Absence of Detention will give strategy RPG fans a reason to pick up a Vita, as it is set to release next spring. Following other Disgaea titles, Absence of Detention is the portable port of Disgaea 3: Absence of Justice, which was released on PS3 in 2008. If the other Disgaea portable ports are any indication than Vita early adopters can expect the full Disgaea 3 experience with added characters and story missions.

If you love NIS America, quirky games in general, or just demon penguins that don’t know how to pronounce the word “dude” properly then these announcements should have you chomping at the bit for 2012 as you get ready to worship once again in the house that Prinnies built.
