Blu-ray Releases: September 27, 2011

I should probably clarify the opening excerpt by informing you all that the first 4 movies on this week’s list were released this past Sunday – September 25.  Not that their release date should matter as they are all worthy entries into anyone’s Blu-ray collection.  Maybe I’m dating myself here but there’s just something about the comedy classics that were born of the ’80s.  So many of them are timeless and incomparable to some of the “comedies” of our current generation.

If comedies aren’t your thing I see a little movie that fellow PSNation writer Jason will be first in line for.  After he got a sneak peak at the unnecessary remake (aren’t most remakes unnecessary?) of Kevin Bacon’s Footloose I think it’s safe to say he’ll be playing tractor chicken with anyone that might get in his way of the original.

If you’re still not content, or just can’t make a decision, you could indulge your inner B-rate monster with a series of Gamera titles.  Seriously, who can resist the inspiration a giant flying turtle can provide?  It may not have been my favorite of Godzilla’s counterparts – that will forever be reserved for King Ghidorah – but I certainly recall favorable childhood memories stemming from its saucer-like flying abilities.

Still mourning his passing in 2010 I wouldn’t feel right if I didn’t go with the following pick this week:
