Blu-ray Releases: November 15, 2011

Blu-rays and videogames have a lot in common and not just because PS Nation writes and talks about both. They share a similar strategy in trying to get their best releases out on store shelves with plenty of time to spare before the holidays.

Little Johnny and Suzie can then add said items to their ‘I want’ list before they have to turn the list over to Santa. This is their last chance and game/movie companies know it. So without further adieu, I present to you a mammoth list of new Blu-rays out this week.

The releases for November 12th include:

• Assassin’s Creed: Lineage (New Group)
• Beginners (Universal)

Of course the holidays aren’t just about little Johnny and Suzie. We as ‘big kids’ also get a chance to make wish lists of our own or skip the entire process and buy what we want outright. Regardless of where you fall, there’s a ton to choose from this week.

Since I already own fifteen versions of Evil Dead 2 (slight exaggeration) and since I previously picked up the Big Lebowski on Blu-ray, my pick of the week is the Looney Tunes Platinum Collection: Volume 1. Most of the cartoons in this collection have been released previously on DVD, but I’ve yet to purchase any of the DVD’s so I’ll start here instead. The Platinum Collection includes 50 classic cartoons and a ton of bonus features. If you’re holding out for the entire collection, you’ll have to continue waiting. While you wait I’ll be enjoying some of the best cartoons ever made.

That’s All Folks.

What an odd week.  Looks like the family friendly release week.  As I don’t own a copy of The Big Lebowski (I know, I know) I’d pick that. I have seen Larry Crowne and the movie is yawn* except there’s one awesome line delivered by George Takei “They call them smart phones, but only dummies use them in my class.”
Just wanted to add that the Tom Cruise pack contains Collateral, Days of Thunder, Minority Report, Top Gun (of course) and War of the Worlds.
