Monday 14th:

  • ‘Bloodbath Arena’, the delayed DLC for Dead Island, has been given a new release date of November 22nd.
  • Speaking to Industry Gamers, Ken Levine admitted “we got very close to having it made” in regards to a Bioshock movie. However, he says he has “no burning desire” at the moment and would only give it away if he knew the producers would “a) give the fans something that they want, and b) for those who don’t know BioShock, really introduce them to something that is consistent with the game, and is it going to be a good representation of the game”.
  • After storyline leaks earlier this month, Ray Muzyka of BioWare claims the developer have now made changes to the narrative.

Tuesday 15th:

  • The first DLC pack for Uncharted 3 has been revealed and it follows the recent norm when it comes to FPS map packs. This first set – Flashback Pack #1 – will be two maps from Uncharted 2 (Cave and Fort) slightly re-skinned.
  • More DLC news, and on the day the full game was released, Ubisoft announced the first Assassins Creed: Revelations extras. The Ancestors Character Pack will have 4 new multiplayer skins and sets you back $3.99.
  • Vivendi sold 35 million of its shares in Activision, leaving them now with only a 60% stake in the publisher. Bloomberg claim Vivendi earned $427m from the deal.

Wednesday 16th:

  • Starbreeze told UK magazine PSM3 that they’re working on a self-financed PSN project, for release after they finish upcoming title Syndicate.
  • Bethesda announced Skyrim has shipped 7 million copies in its first week on shelves.
  • The producer of MGS: Rising, Shigenobu Matsuyama, has “stepped down” from his position and moved to a “different division”.

Thursday 17th:

  • Avalanche Studios, the team behind Just Cause, revealed they are working on an AAA title – currently known as ‘Project Mamba’ internally.
  • In the US, Canada and Mexico, PS3 gamers will get a free download of Saint’s Row 2 if they buy a brand new version of the third iteration. The code expires on February 14th of next year.
  • Brink developer Splash Damage are working on their next game, which will be based on “one of the biggest pop culture brands of the last 50 years”.

Friday 18th:

  • Capcom announced Darkstalkers will be arriving on the PSN on November 29th.
  • Edge have reported that the “bulk” of employees at Guerrilla are working on Killzone 4, while the studio also has “an embryonic new IP”.
  • Modern Warfare 3 has broken game, movie and book records for the first 5 days – raking in $775m. To make themselves even more popular around gamers, Activision also proclaimed they’ve enjoyed income of over $6billion purely from the CoD franchise.

Saturday 19th:

  • Sony have begun to send out beta codes for Starhawk – the test going live from November 22nd in Europe and the US.
  • Dan Houser has hinted Rockstar could resurrect the Bully series once they’re done with Max Payne 3.
  • The Rockstar VP also spoke about GTA III. Houser revealed they had to make changes due to 9/11; including making sure no planes looked like they were remotely near to skyscrapers, references to terrorists and the colours of the cop cars (so they weren’t like NYPD vehicles).

Sunday 20th:

  • After a shambolic start to their Elite service, Activision have set a target date of 1st December to fix all the issues.
  • In more patching news, Skyrim will get an update very soon. The PS3 and 360 versions have already been “submitted for certification” and should arrive “within a week after Thanksgiving”.
  • Infinity Ward have banned over 1,600 cheaters from Modern Warfare 3 – Robert Bowling tweeted “Any attempt to cheat, hack, or glitch in #MW3 will not be tolerated. 1600+ bans issued. Updates in works. Please cont. to report offenders.”
