Growlanser: Wayfarer Of Time Coming to North America On PSP Courtesy of Atlus

North American strategy RPG gamers have always gotten the short end of the stick when it comes to the Growlanser series. While Japan had the original Growlanser on PlayStation and the next five installments in the franchise on PlayStation 2 (for those keeping track that’s Growlanser II: The Sense of Justice, Growlanser III: The Dual Darkness, Growlanser IV: Over Reloaded, Growlanser V: Generations and Growlanser VI: Precarious World) American SRPG fans only received Growlansers II and III (as part of Growlanser Generations) and Grownlanser V (released in the US as Growlanser Heritage of War). Even these titles were limited runs and did not penetrate the popular consciousness like other strategy RPGs, such as Final Fantasy Tactics. Thankfully Atlus is giving us another chance to experience one of the pinnacles of the series with Growlanser: Wayfarer of Time (aka Growlanser IV) for the PSP.

Wayfarer of Time tells the tale of divine entities returning to the land they decimated two millennia ago to end existence unless a fabled warrior can rise to challenge them. With over 40 hours of narrative and over 40 possible endings Wayfarer of Time will keep you busy for quite a while. Along the way players will engage in tactical RPG combat, with character designs by Satoshi Urushihara, and various enhancements over the original release. These enhancements include improved loading times and message skip options.

Check out these screenshots and prepare to save the world through tactics and strategy as Growlanser: Wayfarer of Time comes to the PSP, in both retail and downloadable formats via PSN, this summer.
