Blu-ray Releases: January 31, 2012

With the PlayStation Vita just a few weeks away, I’m curtailing my spending so that I can get a larger memory card (expensive) and a couple Vita games. Fortunately the list of Blu-ray new releases this week seems almost perfectly catered to my personal needs. Nothing here is a first-day purchase in my opinion.

Some of the new releases:

• 2-Headed Shark Attack (Asylum)
• Adaptation. (Image)

  • Yes! Finally! 7 whole discs of Transformers! I can’t wait for all those bonus hours of explosion after explosion; I enjoyed that constant barrage so much in the cinema that I want the experience over and over again at home. And the standard movie just isn’t anywhere near enough. Brilliant news!

I’ve ordered the prequel of The Thing from Best Buy.  Although I missed it while it was in the theater I’ve heard mixed reviews.  I am simply too big a fan of the John carpenter classic to not buy this movie.  Disappointed or otherwise I’ll finally get to see what happened at the Swedes . . . er, um . . . Norwegian camp.

Does anyone know what the Star Trek Blu Ray is?

    • It’s basically a sampler disc for the upcoming Blu-ray releases of the full seasons.  It contains three episodes: Encounter at Farpoint, The Inner Light, and Sins of the Father.
