Mass Effect 3 goes gold

The highly anticipated EA title Mass Effect 3 has today gone gold.

After a couple of earlier delays (which meant it being pushed back from 2011), there’s now no going back – the discs are all ready to be loaded with all those hours of gameplay.

The executive producer over at developer BioWare, Casey Hudson, broke the news over Twitter:

“After an awesome effort by our team, I’m proud to announce #MassEffect3 is officially GOLD! Many surprises await you – this week and beyond.”

Not long to go now until the March 6th release date, and the demo is out tomorrow, February 14th. Let us know in the comments section whether you’re looking forward to Shepard’s third outing and what you think of the demo, if you’ve had chance to play it. We’ve also included some screenshots below of the pre-order bonuses in action:

I recently played the only remaining DLC for ME2 – Lair of the Shadow Broker – and was completely blown away by it.  I heard that it was the best of the available DLC for ME2 and can whole-heartedly agree with that statement.  Bioware packed more into that 2 hour DLC side story than some full-blown games are capable of producing at full retail price.  To say that I’m excited for ME3 is an understatement.  I’m downloading the demo now in the hope that I can play some of it prior to my leaving for a business trip to Atlanta this afternoon.
