Launch date confirmed for new Resistance game

The release date for PlayStation Vita title Resistance: Burning Skies has been confirmed by Sony as May 29th.

Although we have a stellar list of launch titles on Vita, there are no FPS’ to really put the new dual analog’s through their paces. After all, the main reason two sticks were so clamoured for was for shooters. Because of that, this latest Resistance game will be highly anticipated after the hype of this initial slew dissipates.

Here’s a brief introduction to Burning Skies, courtesy of the PS Blog:

“Resistance: Burning Skies pulls you into an entirely new dimension of the Resistance universe. Set in a tale of survival during the August 1951 Chimeran invasion of the East Coast, you take control of Tom Riley, an everyday firefighter from New Jersey who is thrown headfirst into the teeth of the Chimeran war machine, forcing him to redefine his notions of duty and heroism.”

Sony also unveiled the Burning Skies boxart, pictured below. It shows “a freshly slain Hybrid lying on the streets of New York City with the protagonist’s fire axe resting in the rubble”. Nice.
