Activision to celebrate 50 years of Bond with new game

To coincide with the 50th anniversary of James Bond, a new game which ties together 007 past and present will be released.

007 Legends is being developed by Eurocom (the studio behind the recent Goldeneye remake) and will feature six different Bond‘s. The story will be concluding with Daniel Craig in the upcoming movie Skyfall, but the five other movies/actors are yet to be divulged. Everything you’d expect is in there – the gadgets, the cars, the girls, the weapons…all the staples of vintage Bond. The game will also feature what seems like a significant multiplayer portion; including four-player split-screen, meaning Joel can dust off the old carboard dividers again.

David Oxford, EVP at Activision had this to say on the announcement:

“To honor 50 years of the world’s top secret agent, 007 Legends offers a collection of his most famed moments in the smartest and most treacherous Bond game yet. Creating a video game storyline that ties together six popular, yet very different, Bond movie narratives can be challenging, but together with EON Productions, our developer Eurocom, has pulled it off to create an homage that we think will be a unique and highly entertaining Bond video game.”

It all certainly sounds very interesting, and has the potential to be something great. Here’s hoping it fully lives up to expectation.

  • Didn’t EA do something similar like 7-8 years ago? The bond videogame franchises must do well just by name because imo it’s been a while since there have been many good entries.

Time to bust out the cardboard for four player… 😉
