LEGO Lord of the Rings confirmed?

It looks as though the next franchise to get the LEGO treatment will be The Lord of the Rings.

As you’ll probably have read, rumours have been doing the rounds for a couple of years now that either LotR or Halo would be receving their own blocky adventure, but it seems Tolkien’s classic has won out.

It hasn’t been confirmed officially, but the packaging of the latest range of LotR toys points towards it being true. An image surfaced online that showed a Travellers Tales logo on the back of a LEGO box, but since then, Kotaku AU have picked up more conclusive proof. Their image from a Toys R Us employee clearly shows that the new title is coming.

Also, UK retailer ShopTo added a listing on their website for LEGO LotR a few days ago. The listing has since been taken down, and had a launch date of 26th October.

So, what do you think of the idea? The LEGO games are good, there’s no doubting that. But now, we’ve had Batman, Harry Potter, Indiana Jones, Rock Band and Star Wars – do we really need more of what is essentially the same formula? Have your say below.
