Test Drive Unlimited dev is no more

Today saw the end of yet another development team, in the form of Eden Studios; most famed for the Test Drive Unlimited series.

Like many in the industry, their parent company Atari suffered an extremely tough year financially, as the recession continues to bite hard. UK magazine Edge reported that in the year ending 31st March, Atari‘s revenue dropped by 44%.

The publisher has now announced plans to concentrate on iOS and Android devices, rather than pumping money into big console games.

Eden‘s closure shouldn’t come as too much of a surprise though. At this time last year, over half of the employees were laid off, whilst the remaining staff went on strike to campaign against “mismanagement” from Atari.
