NBA 2K13 launches on October 2nd for PS3 and PSP

Players will soon be able to step onto the virtual hardwood once more, as 2K Sports have predictably announced that NBA 2K13 will be releasing this October. However, there is a little bit of a surprise – no PlayStation Vita version will be arriving this time around. As always though, the hit franchise will make an appearance on both PS3 and PSP.

For the console version, 2K has also revealed a pre-order incentive, to “thank the fans”; the NBA All-Star add-on pack. At present, there is no word on any retailer-specific deals, which is good news for the gamer.

2K – who have witnessed their game become the best-selling basketball sim for the past 4 years – had this to say on the All-Star DLC:

“Fans that pre-order NBA 2K13 for the PlayStation 3 will receive a new downloadable NBA All-Star content package presented by Sprite. This add-on content will be set in Houston, the site of the 2013 NBA All-Star Game and will allow fans to stage their own NBA All-Star Game, including three NBA All-Star events – the Foot Locker Three Point Shootout, BBVA Rising Stars Challenge, and the Sprite Slam Dunk Contest featuring all-new intuitive, pick-up-and-play controls.

Gamers can pit the NBA’s current superstars against classic players in both the Foot Locker Three Point Shootout and Sprite Slam Dunk Contest. Rosters for both the BBVA Rising Stars Challenge and 2013 NBA All-Star Game will feature the 2012 All-Stars, with dynamic updates to the 2013 rosters once the participants are announced.”

Finally, the publisher stated that this is “just the beginning of a lot of big news about NBA 2K13”. We’ll bring you more as we get it, with a highly probable showing over E3. Who knows, maybe they’ll even have a Lakers or Clippers player on stage. It’s not like any of them are too busy with the conference finals or anything…

  • I’m going to enjoy this just like how I love NBA 2K12, but i wish they’d go the MLB12 The Show cross platform PSVita-PS3 way

    • Rojo LeBird

      i agree

  • I’d play all sport games more if there was cross platform with all of them, not sure why they don’t accept this model?

    need it for vita

    • Should be on VITA … C´mon … Vita owners like bball too !!

  • Finn Harrity

the f*ck man no ps vita? thats the whole reason i bought that f*cking thing

    • That is some BS … Vita owners need a basketball game ASAP … C´mon … If they are not doing it at least make possible to play the PS3 version on REMOTE PLAY … Give us something … Going mad !!!

  • So they take most of the PSP systems off da market, and replace them wit PS Vitas, but then make a very anticipating popular B-Ball game for the PSP and not for da new vita dat they want everyone to buy… LOL very smart thinkin Sony, now ur losing sales… but i guess people still do own PSPs (like myself) and cant afford a PS Vita yet so wutever… Sony betta straighten up on their PS Vita games cuz they not livin up 2 da hype… but imma be patient

    • Agree …
They are laizy … Its easy to make a new version for PSP cause all they do is change the year … I bought Vita and I am mad right now … They gotta do something about basketball fans that own a VITA … ASAP

    • It’s not Sony’s game and it’s not Sony’s call.

2K is the owner/publisher of the NBA 2K franchise and they make their own decisions about what platforms they’re going to develop for. Get on them to bring it to the Vita.

  • PSP ???
C´mon … That is just too laizy … All they do for PSP is change rosters and sell it for 50 bucks … That aint right … Forget about PSP and make a good version of the game for VITA … Or make the PS3 version playable on VITA remote.
That´s wrong … BS … I bought VITA expecting to play basketball games !!!

if they wont come up this game on vita lets boycott the next handheld sony will release, they should follow what gamers want, all we want is nba 2k13 on vita but what this people doing,DAMN!!!

    • Boycotting Sony won’t help, they have no say in this game.

2K is the publisher, they make their own decisions about what platforms to publish on. Be mad at 2K and go hit them up on their forums, twitter and Facebook. That’s the only way to get their attention.

I am definitely a sports fan and to hear 2k sports potentially isnt releasing NBA2k13 on the vita is an outcry and truely effed up! psp?? Are you serious? C’mon guys!

  • anyone know if psp players can play with/against ps3 players?

  • ZMG

so far the vitas software lineup isn’t that strong, being new and all, so i think next year we’ll see nba 2k14

  • Hanna Alrabadi

Yeah they should make it for the Vita. THe right stick for crossover and the left to move, it would be sick. The L button for selective player and the R button for turbo. Square to shoot X to pass Triangle to post up and Circle to set pick or take charge
