‘Papo & Yo’ E3 Trailer
Indie developer Minority has just released the latest trailer for their upcoming PSN title, Papo & Yo.
Papo & Yo tells the tale of a young boy, Quico, and his best friend and protector, Monster. Although Monster loves Quico, Monster is addicted to eating frogs, and when he does, he becomes a furious killing machine. Quico’s job is to survive and help cure his friend’s problem.
What makes Papo & Yo so outstanding is that it’s a fable of the game’s creator’s life. Vander Caballero grew up in South America, the game’s setting, with his father, who used alcohol and drugs to cope with life. Caballero wanted his story told, creatively, so people would know why he is who he is. There is little doubt in my mind that this has been a therapeutic experience for him.
The game is beautifully animated with interesting environments and characters. Although the premise may seem silly at first, it is the back story and symbolism that give it life.
Minority, the game’s developers, will have the game on demo at this year’s E3. There is no release date announced yet.
