2000 friends huh? so… I’m putting myself on queue to both you guys since both your ps3 are full 😉 right? right?

  • Matt Berial

I was wondering about this. (Being able to change your username) when you change your user name the name will change on your account but on your friends, friends list it will show his original name so it’s not confusing? I don’t know, I have been thinking about this of how they could make it less confusing, I also own a 360 and it’s confusing as hell to figure out who is who, I mostly play my PS3 now though.

    • I don’t think that works, if it’s still going to show the original name instead of the new one to some people, why change it in the first place?

The only way I think it could work is if, in place of where their name currently is, it displays something like this:
      BattlefieldLover37
      (formerly Torgo)
and it continues to display both until you acknowledge it.

That’s still problematic because there are people that changes their names every couple of days for one reason or another. I just don’t like the idea of name changes because I don’t know who’s who at that point and feel like just dropping them from my list entirely, plus it allows trolls and griefers to hide easily.

Sony is very clear that you should think about your choice because you can’t change it later, but you can create a new account (and lose all your trophies).

I don’t know, on Steam it’s easy to find out who is who though even if someone changes his/her name. I think it’s possible, but I don’t know how they would go about doing it.

        • Matt Berial

Now that I think of it, Steam does it like you described I forgot about that. If Sony does go about doing it they should make it like that, and have a limit how many times you can do it. Maybe 1 time a year or something. I made my account for PS3 and regretted making it, I honestly thought Sony had a similar system like Steam to change your name. And making a brand new account starting things over and re-buying everything would be a major pain in the butt.

      • Matt Berial

If Sony does implement the name change feature, they should make it a one time thing or a certain amount of uses. When I made my name for PS3 (it’s not the name on here, i would like it to be) I liked it, but as I got older the name just looks really silly and embarrassing to have. Or be able to transfer your stuff to a different account and delete the account you don’t want.
