Batman: Arkham Origins will be shipping with some competitive multiplayer this Fall.

In a somewhat surprising move considering the last two Batman games featured only single player content, Warner Bros today announced a multiplayer component to Batman: Arkham Origins developed by Splash Damage, the developers of Brink and Wolfenstein: Enemy Territory.

The competitive multiplayer mode will be a 3v3v2 as gamers play as Joker’s gang, Bane’s gang, or as Batman and Robin. As seen in the video embedded below and according to the press release players will be able to control the criminal masterminds too by calling in “the ultimate reinforcement to help turn the tide in any match by playing as The Joker or Bane themselves.” According to Eurogamer, after a certain point in the match The Joker and Bane will be made available to the first “Gang Elite” member to reach them.

Batman: Arkham Origins hit the PS3, PC, WiiU, and Xbox 360 on October 25th.

Just a nerd from the Windy City. I’m actually really bad at describing myself because I get all self-critical and self-conscious. Follow me on Twitter, @The1stMJC, to see my borderline insane rants on tv shows and other non important subjects. If I’m not tweeting I’m probably just watching Buffy or Firefly for the millionth time.

Hmm. This is the first thing that has really piqued my interest in this game.
