Early Access and Open Beta Dates Announced for Final Fantasy XIV: A Realm Reborn

Final Fantasy XIV: A Realm Reborn, in case you’ve been out of touch with gaming sites, podcasts and the internet for a few months, is a reboot of the failed Final Fantasy XIV MMORPG from 2010.

New users will be able to participate in the open beta test beginning August 17th through August 19th! Three whole days. Change all your plans. Board the pets. Square Enix needs you. At least a little bit.

Gamers who pre-order will get early access beginning August 24th. There are also incentives to help ramp-up excitement prior to launch. Behold!

If you subscribe for a full 90 days from the launch date at a  cost of $12.99 per month you will qualify for Veteran’s Rewards. The curiously titled subscription category gets you the bonuses of the 30, 60 and 90 day subscriptions all at once. The specifics of those bonuses were not revealed in the press release.

If you have the dubious distinction of being a legacy player from the game’s 2010 iteration the folks at Square Enix offer you an olive branch of sorts as a way of enticing you back. This Welcome Back Campaign offers free play until Monday, September 9th, which is honestly pretty nice of them.

There is also a free companion iOS device app entitled Final Fantasy XIV: Libra Eorzea planned to arrive a week after launch. What it does I do not know because, again, the press release was expertly vague.

I can tell you that the game is set to launch on August 27 and will be priced at $39.99 for the PlayStation 3 system with a mandatory subscription cost of $12.99 per month.

To pre-order and gain early access to the final game version please do so through our Amazon link.
