XCOM: Enemy Within will not be DLC for consoles

During PAX Prime Garth DeAngelis, senior producer at Firaxis Games, announced that XCOM: Enemy Within will not launch as DLC for the PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 due to the size of the content.

“For the expansion on the PC, it was fairly straightforward, but when it came to the consoles, it was too big. If we wanted to deliver the same content to the console players, we had to do it this way as a standalone expansion on a disc. We couldn’t simply just patch it in.”

The new content will come to the consoles in the form of XCOM: Enemy Within Commander Edition which will pack in the original remake of XCOM: Enemy Unknown, XCOM: Enemy Within, along with the Slingshot and Elite Soldier add-ons.

XCOM: Enemy Within will launch on November 12th, so head to your local retail store to pick up your copy of XCOM: Enemy Within Commander Edition to get the extra content.
