PS3 Firmware 4.50 Coming Later Today

PS3 Firmware

Over at the EU PlayStation Blog, Sony announced that the firmware for the PlayStation 3 will be updated to version 4.50. The latest update will open up some features previously held behind the PlayStation Plus pay-wall to all PSN users in addition to a Trophy privacy setting.

Here is a list of what to expect in the 4.50 firmware update.

  • Auto download of system software updates has been expanded to support all PSN users.
  • Auto download support of purchases made on the Web Store will be made available to all PSN users.
  • New options for trophy privacy settings allow users to set which trophies are visible.
  • Data can now be transferred from PS3 to PS Vita using WiFi and Ethernet connection.

How do you feel about the changes coming to the PS3 with the latest update?

Just a nerd from the Windy City. I’m actually really bad at describing myself because I get all self-critical and self-conscious. Follow me on Twitter, @The1stMJC, to see my borderline insane rants on tv shows and other non important subjects. If I’m not tweeting I’m probably just watching Buffy or Firefly for the millionth time.

I could never understand why the Vita could transfer files to and from the PC with either the USB cable or Wi-Fi, but it could ONLY do so with the USB cable for the PS3. That was an issue with me, but at least it’s gone now.

Wifi transfer between PS3 and Vita won’t work without a Vita firmware update as there’s no way currently to pick to transfer wirelessly.
