The Last Guardian is still in development

The Last Guardian isn’t on hiatus, and actual development is being done on the game. “The game has never stopped – the team has always been here. They’re going through the re-engineering of the game, so the team size is smaller, because it’s more engineering focused right now,” said Shuhei Yoshida in a recent interview with Games Industry.

Previously Jack Tretton stated The Last Guardian was on hiatus, that development had currently stopped. While there has been a lack of information on the game in recent months, Yoshida says that Jack said it wrong. “Hiatus, I never… It was Jack Tretton! He used that term, and I said no, hiatus is misleading. It was a hiatus in terms of releasing new information.”

“We’re waiting for the right time to re-introduce The Last Guardian in an appropriate way,” he said. “I can’t… Well, the game is in development, and it’s well staffed, and Ueda-san is here, working – even though he’s not a Sony employee, he’s dedicated to the product. But we’re not ready to update yet.”

Since the reveal of The Last Guardian at E3 in 2009, rumors were that the game was cancelled or that it would be coming to the PlayStation 4 instead of the PlayStation 3. When there is more information available on the game, PS Nation will have it.

Though we have no idea about when The Last Guardian will come out, are you still excited for it?
