MIddle-earth: Shadow of Mordor Announced

Warner Bros. revealed today that Monolith Productions are working on a new game based in the Lord of the Rings universe called Middle-earth: Shadow of Mordor.

Taking place between The Hobbit and The Lord of the Rings, players control Talion, a ranger who is killed after watching his family die the night Sauron’s army returns from Modor. Talion finds himself resurrected by a vengeance spirit and equipped with Wraith abilities as he sets out for revenge.

The game will feature a new “Nemesis System” that is described as:

Every enemy that players face is a unique individual, differentiated by their personality, strengths and weaknesses. Through the Nemesis System, enemy relationships and characteristics are shaped by player actions and decisions to create personal archenemies that remember and adapt to the player and are distinct to every gameplay session. Gamers are able to craft their own battles, enemies and rewards within the dynamic world that remembers and adapts to their choices, delivering a unique experience to every player.

Middle-earth: Shadow of Mordor will arrive on PS3, PS4, PC and Xbox One in 2014. GameInformer will feature the game in their December issue and have a little more information on the game over on their site.

Just a nerd from the Windy City. I’m actually really bad at describing myself because I get all self-critical and self-conscious. If I’m not tweeting I’m probably just watching Buffy or Firefly for the millionth time.
