Midwest Gaming Classic Announced for April 12-13, 2014

Every year, we at PS Nation make the trip to Milwaukee, WI to not only revel in all things gaming of the past and present, but also to spend some time with those from our community that make the trip as well.

MGC is a pretty awesome event that we’ve attended since its early days, and it’s grown quite a bit since those days in the basement of, I think it was an Eagles Club? Since the inception of PS Nation, we’ve used MGC as our way to connect and hang-out with members of our community, and to meet new gamers as well. The show itself is an awesome celebration of gaming in many forms, including being the largest Pinball event in the entire Midwest.

You’ll find Pinball and Arcade games strewn throughout the entire venue, all setup for Free-Play. Not only that, but the videogame museum offers a glimpse at essentially every game system ever released, and many are available to try out. Then there’s the humongous vendor room, which brutalizes my wallet every year. When it’s time to relax and play some of the games that you’ve bought or brought, head down to the Retroids room to hang with friends and play the arcade games that the Galloping Ghost Arcade have brought along.

This year, instead of our standard Dinner and Karaoke, we’re setting up a night at Miller Park to watch the Milwaukee Brewers play the Pittsburgh Pirates on Friday, April 11th. We’ll be getting a bus to take us all over to the game, and we’re looking into a group rate and possibly reserving the Dew Deck or the Party Room at TGI Fridays, which is in the left field corner.

Mark your calendars and reserve your rooms today for the biggest and best Midwest Gaming Classic ever! The Midwest Gaming Classic returns on April 12th and 13th, 2014 to the Brookfield Sheraton, adding a new 10,000+ square foot heated temporary structure to help expand the event beyond the walls of the Sheraton itself! The increase in space will allow for even more content to be packed into the show.

The temporary structure isn’t the only new and exciting thing being added to the show for 2014. A new V.I.G. (Very Important Gamer) program has been created to give limited special perks to the biggest Midwest Gaming Classic fans. Gamers participating in this program can expect a special welcome dinner with show founders Dan Loosen and Gary Heil on Friday night, exclusive tournaments, shirts, badges, early access to the vendor hall on Saturday and Star Worlds Arcade and the Gaming Museum on Sunday, and much more! If you’re interested in becoming a V.I.G., sign up early as only 75 of these passes will be sold and once they are gone, they are gone!

Friday is still the day to arrive, as the amount of things to do before the show officially opens keeps getting bigger! Tom Taylor will open his doors on Friday to play the more than 300 pinball and classic arcade machines that he owns (with proceeds benefitting the Milwaukee Rescue Mission). The Clock Chaos Pinball Tournament and Up To Par Video Game Tournament return with tweaks to them that will allow more players and winners than ever before!

Once the show opens on Saturday, gamers will find more than ever to do! Amongst the highlights, the arcade and museum will expand to be more than double the floor space that they were for 2013. Space for table top gaming expands, and Games & Grub, which allows gamers to eat and play a board game with an old or new friend while they do will be available all day for only $10.00!

On Sunday, Family Day returns with half-price admission for adults and special family events throughout the entire show! Get your picture taken with Mario and Luigi in the Star Worlds Arcade, participate in special tournaments, and introduce your children to everything from Pong to the PS4 and pinball! The Midwest Gaming Classic’s Family Day is an event your entire family will enjoy and remember forever.

Finally, if you’re one of the first 1,000 gamers to purchase your two-day event tickets, you’ll receive a limited edition collectible lapel pin and a window cling for free! This is our way of thanking those that make the event possible and continue to push us to expand the Midwest Gaming Classic to fit in all of the games that you can imagine playing in a weekend.

Make sure to pre-order your VIG Passes or event tickets and book your hotel rooms as soon as possible… and then get ready to game!
