Frozen Synapse: Tactics coming to PS Vita

The 2011 indie hit from Mode 7 is coming the the PS Vita. here is what Gareth Wright – Design Manager, Double Eleven had to say about Frozen Synapse: Tactics.

We saw it as an excellent title to bring to PSN. Its revolutionary play style works exceptionally well in multiplayer, offering a whole new competitive model that is perfect for the Vita. Users can play multiple games concurrently, making it unlike any other online experience on the platform.

The single-player campaign has a deep and engrossing storyline and works as a great introduction to the skirmish and PvP modes. We believe it’s a great all-round game. Some of our team were playing it on lunch breaks before Mode 7 and ourselves had even began speaking about the potential for working on this project.

Players control an elite strike team of futuristic soldiers, from shotgunners and snipers to grenadiers and machine-gunners. Matches take place on procedurally generated, virtual environments, or players can create their own, choosing the amount of rooms, walls, windows, cover and so forth in the creation area. All battlegrounds are fully-destructible.

Players plot paths and issue orders for their units, aiming to predict their opponent’s strategies or complete the match objectives. Both teams commit their plans for each turn, we call this ‘Priming’, and the outcome of that turn is then played out, resulting in awesome fire-fights, exploding walls and cinematic kill cams.

Not only are the controls being improved and streamlined, but the tutorials have changed as well. They are quick and feel more like mini-missions. I for one cannot wait for this and look forward to what the very talented team at Double Eleven bring to this PS Vita game.
