Justin Richmond Leaves Naughty Dog for Riot Games

Uncharted 3 (B)

Justin Richmond has left Naughty Dog to join League of Legends developer Riot Games.

Justin Richmond was a designer on Uncharted 2: Among Thieves’ multiplayer and went on to help direct Uncharted 3: Drake Deception. Before leaving the developer he was working on the next Uncharted game.

Speaking with IGN, Justin Richmond confirmed his departure and plans for the future:

“I have in fact made the decision to leave Naughty Dog. I love the company and the people and know that they will continue to create awesome games going forward. On a happier note, after careful consideration and exploration I have joined Riot Games. There is some really innovative stuff going on here that I can’t wait to be a part of.”

A Sony representative spoke with Euro Gamer about Richmond’s departure and assured them that Uncharted 4’s development timeline will not be impacted.

This makes the second major departure from Naughty Dog after Amy Hennig left earlier this month. Does this concern you with the development of the next Uncharted game or is it just business as usual?

If I’m not tweeting I’m probably just watching Buffy or Firefly for the millionth time.
