The Last of Us: Remastered pops up on Sony’s online store UPDATED

The Last of Us Remastered PS Store

After months of speculation on whether The Last of Us is coming to the PlayStation 4 it appears that Sony have accidentally confirmed the port’s existence. An advertisement banner popped up on the Sony Entertainment Network Store for The Last of Us: Remastered. The ad, which can be seen in the image below, has the game priced at $59.99 as a “Day 1 Digital” title. There is no release date information and clicking the banner leads to an error message.

Sony has not come forward with a statement as of the writing of this post, but the day is young and this post will be updated if and when they comment on the matter.

UPDATE:

Naughty Dog and Sony confirmed the game’s existence on the PlayStation Blog. The game is coming this summer and is being worked on by Naughty Dog and will run at 1080p with higher resolution character models, improved shadows/lighting, upgraded textures, and more. The game will also feature audio commentary on every cut scene by writer Neil¬†Druckmann, Troy Baker, and Ashley Johnson.

The ‘Left Behind’ DLC and the multiplayer map pack DLC will also be included in the remastered package.

This game my very short list of games I would double dip and buy again…..I’ll pass on digital and go with physical.

    Brilliant.

Great game but its a little hard for me to justify another 60 bucks on it. Im already 75 bucks in at this point.

I couldn’t play it on my PS3 as the fans would kick into high gear and make it almost unplayable, I was waiting until I got another PS3 but when I found out about this awhile back I knew it will be the best option. Nice one Sony and Naughty Dog.

I wish they had been more honest with there intentions to release
this game on PS4 earlier. It’s no coincidence that they announced this
after there DLC has been released for a few weeks.

Both Titanfall and Diablo 3 made no secret of there plans to release on multiple
generations of platforms. Those two companies let consumers make an
    informed decision.

Dont get me wrong Sony has been great to its customers recently (PS+ and cross-buy). I just think this decision could have been handled better.

Almost like they wanted people to buy the game and DLC on their platform with the biggest install base therefore maximising the profits. Then accidentally upload the banner to early without sending out press releases.

No one is forcing you to buy the Remastered edition and Sony have yet to even announce any kind of offer or PlayStation Plus incentive.

“No one is forcing you to buy” why do we immediately have to go confrontational in the comments. I’m sure we’re both adults and we can have a conversation without being condescending to each other.

If you look at my comment you will see that I gave credit to Sony for some of there great policies recently.

The point of my comment is that if a company has a consumer facing business model, issues like this could be avoided entirely. Instead of worrying about “maximizing profits”, they should worry about maximizing customer satisfaction. If you do that the profits will largely take care of themselves.

I’m not being confrontational and I apologise if it seemed that way.

Titanfall and other games like that were planned and made for all of those platforms at an early stage. Naughty Dog didn’t start on the Remastered Edition until after they had finished The Last of Us.

It is more like a game of the year edition, just on another system.
