Bombshell Announced by 3D Realms and Interceptor Entertainment

Despite a Duke Nukem lawsuit going on, 3D Realms and Interceptor Entertainment are not going to sit by and not attempt to make some games while that is being sorted. So in the meantime they have announced a new IP called Bombshell.

Here is a statement from Interceptor Entertainment and 3D Realms on the lawsuit and creation of Bombshell:

“Lawsuits take time, and are often a long, drawn-out process. Meanwhile, we wanted to be productive — our creative team couldn’t wait around for the issue to be resolved. Ultimately, we saw it as the opportunity to create our own intellectual property, and Bombshell was born. So far, it’s been a blast. It’s impossible to say what will happen in regards to our previous project. It might return, it might not. We want to make great games without sacrificing our integrity, and Bombshell allows us to do that beautifully.”

Bombshell is an isometric action role playing game that follows the character Shelly “Bombshell” Harrison, a bomb disposal specialist turned mercenary. She lost her arm during a  bomb explosion in D.C. and was given a second chance and a mechanical arm by a private military contractor. A character trailer focusing on the character model was released today and the video gives us an idea on what the game’s story will entail as the trailer focuses on the President being attacked or abducted by some sort of monster.

Bombshell is projected for Q1 2015 launch for PS4 and PC and the developers are aware of their history with release dates and in their FAQ on Bombshell’s website answered the question of when will the game be released with the following answer:

“When it’s done… just kidding! (No, but seriously — when it’s done!) Bombshell is scheduled “to be done” for release in Q1 2015.”
