E3 2014: What We’re Hoping to See (Part Two)

Thanks for joining us for the second and last part of our ‘What We’re Hoping to See’ at E3 article. If you missed what was said in the first part check it out here, otherwise read on and enjoy. Don’t forget to let us know what you’re hoping to see at E3 in the comments below.

KyleEasily the biggest thing I am looking forward to at this year’s E3 is…well, not going to happen; I already know it – but I can dream, right? A new entry in the Resistance franchise. COME ON SONY!!!! DO IT FOR ME!!! I absolutely love the Resistance franchise, and it easily became my favorite franchise on the PlayStation 3 and possibly in all of PlayStation. Insomniac Games is busy right now with Sunset Overdrive for the Xbox One, so give it to a different development team and let them breathe new life into that amazing universe. Bring the Chimera invasion closer to the present time, possibly into the 60’s or 70’s. After seeing how Resistance 3 went back to the great formula of Resistance: Fall of Man, another game in the series could be mind blowing.

One more time: COME ON SONY!!! DO IT FOR ME!!!

There will no doubt be a ton of great games that will be revealed at E3, but I would put money down that we will see a new God of War. With the cancellation of a game and staff reduction that has gone on at Sony Santa Monica Studio, they have to show us something. Just think for a minute of what they could accomplish with the power of the PlayStation 4; I mean look what they did with the PlayStation 3! God of War III is still to this day one of the best looking games on the system. To see their expertise on the PlayStation 4 would no doubt be jaw dropping.

RajAs my favourite racing series, I desperately want a Midnight Club on PS4. For the Vita, I’d optimistically hope for some sort of GTA HD collection (maybe III, Vice City and San Andreas). Also, Sony should cut the PS3 price to a dirt cheap £79, which would drive sales through the roof.

In terms of my ‘specialty’ (sports games), there’s a lot to get excited about. I’m very much looking forward to seeing next-gen PES, which will probably be the best looking game available, thanks to FOX Engine. I also can’t wait for NHL 15 and WWE 2K15 gameplay, which should have a raft of new features on PS4. After the abysmal NBA Live 14, I think EA should focus on Wii U and Vita; both are open markets for basketball, whilst 2K has the ‘core’ systems locked down.

ChazzMy entire family wants to see Puppeteer on the PS4 and Vita, preferably as a sequel but a Remastered Edition would suit me just fine. I would also like to see some gameplay from Uncharted and a trailer for the next Sly Cooper game would be fantastic and it makes perfect sense, especially considering the movie is due out next year.

Now for my Rockstar Games wish list. Near the end of the Sony press conference they need to finally show The Agent and for it to be exclusive to the PlayStation 4, along with GTA V and some exclusive DLC. A glimpse of Red Dead Revolution (or Retribution) would be nice but I think they might hold them until next year. Plus any other Rockstar games to make an appearance on the Vita or PS4 would be fantastic; Bully, Max Payne, Table Tennis, The Warriors, heck even Unirally.

GlennI agree with Kyle on wanting a new Resistance game. We know that Insomniac isn’t involved with the franchise anymore, but I have a suspicion that Sony Bend Studios is actually working on this for PS4, but that’s just an educated guess. Also, yes, I fully expect to see a new God of War for PS4 revealed, and this makes me very happy.

The best part of E3 though, are the things that come out of left field. I’m hoping that Shadow of the Beast is playable in some form, and I would LOVE to see a new entry in the Wipeout series (I doubt we’ll see it this year though.) From Namco Bandai, I would savor a new and proper Ridge Racer, and even a new PS4-native Tekken.

Lastly, we all “know” that GTA V is coming to PS4, but Rockstar never makes an appearance at E3. That doesn’t mean that they couldn’t unveil it at a press conference. I just hope that it’s at Sony’s and not Microsoft’s ($$$). Let’s not forget the Vita either. I’m hopeful and pretty confident that we’ll see a good breadth of titles this year, as it feels like support for the handheld powerhouse has been steadily improving. I would also expect to see a new conversion from Gio Corsi’s team that will bring more PS3 titles to the Vita.

So, it will be interesting to see how accurate I am here. All I know is that last year was a great time for gamers of all shapes and sizes, and I have a feeling that 2014 can be even better.

Well that is it folks, some excellent predictions and hopes for this E3. I wonder who will get the most correct? I guess time will tell, but until then why not let us know in the comments section below what you think we’ll see at this E3.
