Sony have released more information and some screenshots for their Top-Down Squad Shooter HELLDIVERS. I was lucky enough to play this a few months ago and I have to say it was highly entertaining and looked brilliant. Hopefully one of our team will get a chance to have a go over the next few days during E3 2014, but until then check out all the information direct from Sony:

OVERVIEW:
Developed by Arrowhead Game Studios, makers of indie hit title Magicka and one of Game Developer Magazine’s “Top 30 Developers,” and produced by Sony Computer Entertainment Worldwide Studios (SCE WWS) Foster City Studio, HELLDIVERS™ is a top-down squad shooter developed exclusively for PlayStation® entertainment systems to push the boundaries of Cross-Play TM capabilities on PS4TM, PS3TM and PS VitaTM systems.

Set in a dystopian future, players fight to protect “Super Earth,” where a managed democracy has blurred the lines between military and government rule. We are losing the war, and the HELLDIVERS are the last line of defense against three invading enemy species.

HELLDIVERS focuses on teamwork, as squads battle formidable foes to become HEROES OF THE FEDERATION. Communication is key; cover your teammates as they crawl to safety and revive your fallen comrades to get them back into the fight. Tactically operate weapons and gear as a team and use the full might of the military with a unique signaling mechanic. Need reinforcements? Send up distress signals and have friends join the action any time.

Up to four players can play together, either online or locally around the same television. HELLDIVERS features Cross-Play and Cross-Save functionality, where players on the console of their choice can fight together to survive in an unforgiving environment.

Fight with the HELLDIVERS community in global meta-games and individual missions to save Super Earth. Every battle counts in the Galactic War, where victory unlocks content for all.

HELLDIVERS will be available for the PS4, PS3 and PS Vita systems in 2014.

When I first heard about this game, the old school game ‘Smash Tv’ came up. I was sold already and have gone in to media black out on it. Iv also started playing ‘Dead Nation Ps4’ for the first time to get back some very rusty skills back. I wish this was cross-buy so I dont have to get other controller but I guess it has to happen at some point.

    Or buy it twice, hhhmmmm.

Wish they’d have given us a concrete release date. I heard it was this summer, but then they said at E3 “this year.” makes me worried.
