I’m not really sure what the purpose of these types of things is. Attention, I suppose, and this one certainly got mine. It’s awesome.

To celebrate the upcoming February 23rd launch of prehistorically set Far Cry Primal, Ubisoft commissioned accredited master carver and stone mason, Nick Roberson, who has over 20 years of experience, to craft an entire gaming den out of hand-carved Fletcher Band sandstone, complete with stone TV, coffee table, pizza box, beer can, and, of course, intricately detailed stone replicas of the PlayStation 4 and its accompanying DualShock 4 controller.

“This project was a great challenge for me and I really enjoyed seeing the modern and techy items come together in this natural form. The buttons of the controllers were certainly tricky but I’m delighted with the final results and the fantastic way they’ve been collated for the shoot.” – Nick Roberson, Stonemason

Check out the video below of Roberson working free-hand to brings these items to life.

“This project was undertaken to highlight the vast landscape and rich setting of the Stone Age era in Far Cry Primal. Nick has managed to immortalize, in stone, the beautiful, elegant designs of these iconic items with unbelievable accuracy.” – Tom Goldberger, Senior PR Manager at Ubisoft

So that’s why. What do you guys think? It’s cool, yeah?

Far Cry Primal is coming to PS4 and XBOX One with a PC version coming on March 1st. Check out some of our previous coverage here, and stay tuned for the full review.

A student of games, I play a bit of everything because I like to see what’s out there. Nothing better than first hand experience when it comes to knowing about games. Current game obsession: Anything MOBA (Paragon, Battleborn, Heroes of the Storm), except, ironically, the most popular ones, LoL and DOTA2.
