Armature Studio is throwing two special community events in their twin-stick multiplayer team shooter, Dead Star, this weekend and next, featuring PlayStation fan favorites Ratchet & Clank.

Starting Friday, April 29th at 11:00am Eastern through Monday May 2nd, players simply need to play a game of Dead Star to unlock the Ratchet Pilot Profile picture to use in the game. The following weekend, May 6th – May 9th, will work in much the same way, with players being award the Clank Pilot Profile instead.

Various other additional, though unspecified, in game events will occur throughout each community weekend. For more details on those Armature directs us to follow the game on Twitter @DeadStarGame.

These special events are a dual celebration of the release of Dead Star’s first two DLC add on packs this past Tuesday, as well as the recent release of Ratchet & Clank on PS4 and the Ratchet & Clank movie coming out in theaters April 29th. Happy times.

The Kurg Ships Expansion, $4.99, adds three new playable ships with new abilities not previously available to other ships in Dead Star and four new pilot portraits so you can deck your profile out with the mugs of proud Kurg warriors. Meanwhile, the Ordo Robots Skin Pack comes with two new robotic pilot portraits and four new ship skins for $1.99. Both add on packs are now available on PS4 and Steam.

Rachel S’jet from Gearbox Software and Blackbird Interactive’s Homeworld: Deserts of Kharak was previously featured as a pilot portrait reward in a prior community event, the Homeworld Fame Boost Weekend.

Dead Star is currently on offer as a free PlayStation Plus game and supports cross-play between the two platforms it’s playable on, PS4 and PC via Steam. Shawn reviewed it earlier this week here.

Have you given it a go yet? If not, these next two weekends sound like a good time, but hurry and add it to your library. May’s PS+ games are just around the corner.

A student of games, I play a bit of everything because I like to see what’s out there. Nothing better than first hand experience when it comes to knowing about games. Current game obsession: Anything MOBA (Paragon, Battleborn, Heroes of the Storm), except, ironically, the most popular ones, LoL and DOTA2.
