20-year-old, Madrid, Spain-based developer Pendulo Studios is working on a new adventure title and this time, not only will it be rendered and developed in full 3D, but with the support of publisher Microïds, the new game, Yesterday Origins, will be coming to PS4 and Xbox One in addition to personal computing platforms Windows and Mac.

Players will assume in turn the roles of John Yesterday and his partner, Pauline, immortals who mundanely own an antique shop in present day Paris but are also on a globe trotting quest to find the origins of immortality. Along the way, medieval era flashback sequences will fill in the story of how young, pre-immortal John ran afoul with the Spanish Inquisition, due to his unusual ability to understand and speak every language he encounters, just prior to the events that would change his life forever.

As you can see in the screenshots below, despite the move to 3D for Yesterday Origins, the game will still feature Pendulo’s signature “cartoon” graphic style but now with added graphical benefits like real time dynamic shadows and realistic physics. Fans of Runaway and The Next Big Thing will also appreciate that Pendulo’s distinctive mature, a little offbeat, humor and tone will also arrive intact.

Yesterday Origins’s large 25+ character strong cast will be fully-voiced. The game will be out in English, French, German, Italian, Spanish, Russian and Polish on September 29th, 2016, worldwide.

Who played Runaway? What’d you think? Let me know in the comments.

A student of games, I play a bit of everything because I like to see what’s out there. Nothing better than first hand experience when it comes to knowing about games. Current game obsession: Anything MOBA (Paragon, Battleborn, Heroes of the Storm), except, ironically, the most popular ones, LoL and DOTA2.

I have played the runaway series, I love the series (I even own them in physical form)
“The Next BIG Thing” was okay and “Yesterday” well I didn’t like it because there wasn’t enough voices. When the character doesn’t talk in a point-and-click game, it doesn’t really click with me.

so Yesterday Origins will be fully-voiced? I wonder if you can play it without playing the first game
