EA has revealed that the next installment of its footballer sim, FIFA 17, will be following in the footsteps of last year’s Rory McIlroy PGA Tour and making the switch to Frostbite. A teaser mostly showcasing how far the franchise has come is below, with a full reveal of gameplay footage coming June 12th at 1:00pm PST via EA’s EA PLAY livestream.

Frostbite is the engine made famous by DICE’s Battlefield series. The engine is currently known for the fantastic visuals it can produce, as seen in Need for Speed, Battlefield 4, and Star Wars: Battlefront among others.

“Frostbite unlocks a whole new world of possibilities for the FIFA franchise and its fans,” said David Rutter, VP and Executive Producer. “We have never been as excited as we are today about the future of football and the experiences we are going to deliver in FIFA 17.

One thing to note here if you haven’t upgraded your hardware yet; the switch to Frostbite only applies to the PS4, PC, and Xbox One versions.

Gameplay design-wise, EA Vancouver worked with “four new football ambassadors who have influenced complete innovation in the action on the pitch,” James Rodriguez of Real Madrid C.F., Anthony Martial of Manchester United, Eden Hazard of Chelsea FC, and Marco Reus of Borussia Dortmund. What they’ve brought to the game will also be revealed during EA PLAY.

Finally, it wouldn’t be a modern game reveal without pre-order details. FIFA 17 will be available in three configurations on PS4. What’s included in each is listed below.

A student of games, I play a bit of everything because I like to see what’s out there. Nothing better than first hand experience when it comes to knowing about games. Current game obsession: Anything MOBA (Paragon, Battleborn, Heroes of the Storm), except, ironically, the most popular ones, LoL and DOTA2.
