No Mod Support for Bethesda PS4 Games

After months of waiting for mods support to arrive for Fallout 4 on the PlayStation 4, Bethesda dropped some bad news for PlayStation fans. Bethesda on their website announced that mod support will not come to the PlayStation 4 version of Fallout 4 despite being ready due to the feature being blocked by Sony.

Here is the full statement on why mods will not be available on PS4.

“After months of discussion with Sony, we regret to say that while we have long been ready to offer mod support on PlayStation 4, Sony has informed us they will not approve user mods the way they should work: where users can do anything they want for either Fallout 4 or Skyrim Special Edition.

Like you, we are disappointed by Sony’s decision given the considerable time and effort we have put into this project, and the amount of time our fans have waited for mod support to arrive. We consider this an important initiative and we hope to find other ways user mods can be available for our PlayStation audience. However, until Sony will allow us to offer proper mod support for PS4, that content for Fallout 4 and Skyrim on PlayStation 4 will not be available.

We will provide an update if and when this situation changes.”

This is disappointing news for fans of Fallout 4 as mod support has been available on Xbox One for quite some time now. And with mod support for Skyrim Remastered previously announced for the PS4 and Xbox One that feature is now in jeopardy on PS4 when Skyrim Remastered launches in October.

Well that’s it! I’m getting the XboxS. I’ve decided, like the iPhone, I’ll just skip a generation and wait for the PS5. Don’t get me wrong. I love the PS4 but with the shit Sony has been pulling lately, THEY NEED A TIME OUT!

Of course I picked the wrong platform to buy and play Fallout 4 on! Damn it! Now I’ll have to sell my PS4 copy and pick it up for my Xbox One S or my Alienware laptop.

    Interesting!

Too bad for Bethesda fans on PlayStation platform. I have never been a Bethesda fan nor a serious mod-gamer, but I was looking forward to the prospects of having to mess around to games to give them longevity on consoles (Not that I was actively going to).

Again, if Sony is the culprit, then people should really raise their voices before this thing becomes another “Socom” situation.
