Rock Band Rivals: Free Songs Next Week and Details on Online Play

Harmonix has dropped some beats on the oft-requested online play for Rock Band Rivals. Revealed at PAX earlier this year, the feature will finally launch on January 25th of next year. Rivals owners will be able to queue up with their friends for some online rock sessions.

Online play will be like the normal quickplay mode, however players will play a four song set so that each player gets a choice of a song. A handy feature that wasn’t even in previous games is that there will now be a filter to only show songs that all players in the band own. So no more scrolling through waves of greyed out songs!

Additionally, Harmonix has detailed the December update for the game. The usual array of bug fixes will be present (including trophy fixes, venues not showing up, and more). Also included are two shirts promoting Able Gamers. And finally, songs by several of the artists used in the game’s Rockudrama mode will be added to the game for free for all Rivals owners.

The twelve free tracks are all Boston local bands who were featured in the “interviews” of the Rockudrama mode:
Goddamn Draculas
Parlour Bells
Party Bois
Petty Morals
The Red Chord
Ruby Rose Fox
The Warning Shots
When Particles Collide
