Guerrilla Cambridge Studio Closed by Sony

Sad news to report today, Sony is closing Guerrilla Cambridge. The branch of Guerrilla Games will be closed after 19 years. The studio was originally known as SCE Cambridge Studios where they developed titles like the MediEvil franchise, LittleBigPlanet PSP, Killzone Mercenary for the Vita and most recently RIGS: Mechanized Combat League for PlayStation VR.

The news comes across quite shocking considering RIGS was one of PlayStation VR’s marquee titles and was well received by both critics and fans.

Sony released a statement to GamesIndustry.Biz on the closing of the studio that said the decision was “regrettable” and “in order to deliver on our strategic objectives, it is necessary to make some changes to the European studios structure.”

It should be noted that this will not affect Guerrilla Games proper who are located in Amsterdam and are currently working on Horizon Zero Dawn.

What a shame! I hope that decision bites Sony in the ass! Letting the Killzone Mercenary Devs go!? They single-handedly made the best and most iconic FPS for Vita! Sony has seriously gone full fuckin’ retard!

Microsoft is slipping up as well. Cancelling Scalebound and not replacing the game with a better exclusive to make up for the loss. Like seriously? What the hell is wrong with these game companies nowadays?! Smh.
