Square Enix and Marvel Assemble; Crystal Dynamics Making Avengers Game

Marvel and Square Enix announced a multi year deal that will make way for several Marvel related video games. The first game from this deal will be developed by Crystal Dynamics in partnership with Eidos-Montreal. Dubbed currently “The Avengers Project” is an original game and story that is promised to set up a universe for gamers to play in “for years to come.” Basically it sounds like Square Enix is in the early stages of setting up a Marvel Video Game Universe.

In a press release from Square Enix, Marvel Senior Vice President of Games & Innovation, Jay Ong said:

“By partnering with Crystal Dynamics and Eidos-Montréal, we are now working with two of the industry’s most talented and respected game development studios to bring Marvel stories to life in ways our fans have never experienced. The Avengers project is a perfect example of how Marvel is making games a key part of the landscape for Marvel storytelling, alongside comics, television and film. We can only do this by matching our greatest Super Heroes with the world’s top developers, such as the creative minds at Square Enix.”

A teaser trailer for The Avengers Project was released and while there is not much to show, Square Enix said that more details on the Avengers Project and other games will be revealed in 2018.

Just a nerd from the Windy City. I’m actually really bad at describing myself because I get all self-critical and self-conscious. Follow me on Twitter, @The1stMJC, to see my borderline insane rants on tv shows and other non important subjects. If I’m not tweeting I’m probably just watching Buffy or Firefly for the millionth time.
