The Witcher Crossing into Monster Hunter: World

Monster Hunter World has had a fantastic year. Not only was it the most well received Monster Hunter in years, having shipped over 10 million copies, it also got more than a few nominations for Game of the Year. Capcom have no intention of slowing down as we head into 2019 either, announcing a new expansion, along with a collaboration with The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt. Yes, the famed Witcher himself, Geralt of Rivia, will be joining the Monster Hunter ranks in the New World.

Monster Hunter: World Iceborne will be a paid expansion and will include plenty of new content, such as new unlock ranks, new equipment and movesets, new locales, and of course new monsters to hunt. The story of Iceborne will also pick up directly following the events at the end of Monster Hunter: World proper campaign. While Capcom hasn’t shared details on pricing yet, producer Ryozo Tsujimoto suggested that this new expansion will be the size of “G” or “Ultimate” editions of past games, so expect it to be rather beefy. Monster Hunter: World Iceborne will be arriving sometime in Autumn 2019.

If you’re looking to hunt a bit sooner than that, Capcom won’t leave you hanging. The Witcher 3 collaboration, announced at the same time, will be bringing famed Monster Hunter Geralt of Rivia through a portal and into the New World in early 2019 (think January-March timeframe). Geralt is fully voiced by Doug Cockle, the character’s original voice actor, and will be available for free for all World players. Check out the collaboration trailer below to get yourself hyped for Geralt’s latest travel through yet another portal.
