Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order Details from Star Wars Celebration

Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order Details from Star Wars Celebration

Star Wars Celebration happened this past weekend and from it came, among many other things, some new information about the upcoming Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order, from developer Respawn Entertainment. During a panel for the game, a cinematic trailer was revealed alongside a solid release date.

Last week, ahead of the Celebration of all things Star Wars, the official Twitter, @EAStarWars, suddenly tweeted an image for the new title with the caption “Don’t stand out.” This was an allusion to the game’s setting, read more about that here. This understandably got a lot of fans hyped.

First, release date
Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order is set to release on November 15, 2019, for PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PC. The PC version will be locked to publisher EA’s Origin. I’m sure there will be some obscure staggered release schedule, but those details are as yet unknown.

Next up: story details
Jedi: Fallen Order takes place shortly after Episode III, following the events the enactment of Order 66, Jedi are branded traitors to the Galactic Empire and are hunted. During the aforementioned trailer, we got a glimpse of protagonist Cal Kestis, a Jedi padawan, now living on the run. Jedi: Fallen Order will chronicle his journey following the tragedy in his past as he attempts to complete his training as a Jedi. Kestis will be played by actor Cameron Monaghan, who has played a role in Fox’s Gotham. The primary antagonist is someone known as Second Sister, an “Elite Inquisitor” whose purpose is to hunt the remaining Jedi.

Finally, gameplay details
Jedi: Fallen Order will be a single-player, narrative experience “with no microtransactions.” Stig Asmussen, game director on God of War 3, was brought on to direct Cal Kestis’ adventure. Asmussen describes the game as “thoughtful combat” and aims to recreate the intensity of the lightsaber duels fans have come to know from the series’ long history on-screen. While there will be a large focus on melee combat, Kestis’ sensitivity to the Force will allow for a variety of Force-abilities. Outside of combat, there will also be traversal and platforming abilities to avoid enemies when necessary. There will also be some puzzle-solving elements in the game.

We certainly got a lot of good info about Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order, but there’s still quite a lot more we don’t know. That said, I’m sure we’ll get plenty more details as we begin closing in on the game’s November release date.

Did any of this get you more hyped for the game? If so (or even if not), let’s talk about all this and more in the PS Nation Forums or on Twitter using #AskPSNation.
