THQ Nordic Announces Darksiders Genesis

This week, THQ Nordic has been unveiling some of their apparently huge lineup of games in development. First up, we saw SpongeBob SquarePants: Battle for Bikini Bottom — Rehydrated, a PS2 classic (and I use that term loosely) remastered for current-gen consoles.

Earlier today, THQ Nordic, alongside Airship Syndicate, showed off Darksiders: Genesis, a spin-off prequel to the Darksiders series featuring the gunslinger fourth Horseman Strife for the first time. Check out the trailer below:

Darksiders Genesis will be a top-down adventure wherein Strife will be joined by his brother War in an attempt to “save humankind from certain destruction at the hands of Lucifer. Pulling from the official press release,

“Darksiders Genesis kicks off a completely fresh direction for the Darksiders franchise, including a new gameplay style, the introduction of STRIFE – the fourth and final horseman – and so much more,” said Joe Madureira, co-creator of Darksiders and CEO of Airship Syndicate. “The team at Airship is very eager to get Darksiders Genesis into the hands of fans at next week’s E3 show in Los Angeles!”

In Darksiders Genesis, the fourth Horseman of the Apocalypse STRIFE is called upon to save humankind from certain destruction at the hands of Lucifer. True to its roots, Darksiders Genesis will feature intense combat, exploration, puzzle-solving, epic boss battles and serpent holes from heaven to hell. The game marks the first, full-scale Darksiders adventure played from the top-down perspective.

Darksiders Genesis will release later this year on PC, PlayStation 4, Xbox One, Nintendo Switch, and Google Stadia. THQ Nordic will also have a playable build of the game at E3 next week.
