PlayStation 5 Release Date Set for Yakuza: Like a Dragon

Earlier this year, Sega announced Yakuza: Like a Dragon, the latest installment of the long-running franchise. The game was announced for PlayStation 4, Xbox One, Windows 10, Steam, and Xbox Series X. The curious part was that last one-the next generation version was only confirmed (at the time of the announcement) for the new Microsoft platform, not PlayStation 5. This was odd to several observers, as the Yakuza series has always been primarily associated with the PlayStation family of consoles.

Well, we need not be concerned anymore, as Sega has announced all the details of the release of Like a Dragon, including the PlayStation 5. The game will release on all the initially announced platforms on November 10th, lining itself up with the launch of the Xbox Series X/S. Meanwhile, the PlayStation 5 release date will be March 2, 2021. All versions of the game will list at $59.99, and both the PlayStation 4 and Xbox One versions will be fully upgradable to their respective next-gen counterparts, at no additional cost to the consumer.

While PS5 early adopters will have to wait a few months to play on their new console, it is heartening that they will be able to do just that without spending one extra penny when that time comes. To whet your appetite for Yakuza: Like a Dragon, check out the latest trailer below.
