Gun Review
Following the success of the original, GUN has been ported and released for the PSP as GUN Showdown. Just as gory and violent as the original, GUN Showdown is sure not to dissapoint those who enjoyed the original.
Any avid readers of PSNation.com will remember how much we enjoyed the original. GUN Showdown is basically the same game with few improvements and a non-story mode where a person can practice the skills required by the side quests like hunting or poker. The game is nicely scaled down for the PSP's resolution and looks just as crisp and well animated as any of the console versions. Additionally, more than once I noticed the sound pan between left and right audio channels on the PSP in an attempt to add some dimension to the sound, very impressive.
As satisfied as we were with Gun Showdown, there were a few issues. Most important, we've never cared for the PSP's controls, specifically the analog stick. Gun requires a fair amount of control dexterity to play well and we're not confident that it can be expected on the PSP (admittedly we may simply be too attached to the PS2 controller). Additionally, we're just not sure that the game offers enough to anyone who owns the original to warrant the purchase of Gun Showdown. That being said, the game is fantastic and if you don't already own a copy we still advise picking on up. Last, keep in mind that this game is violent and as much as we enjoyed it, we still would not recommend that it be given to any children this holiday season.
